
Sharif Shabazz
He began his career under the artistic pseudonym Dugueto Shabazz, and is a rapper, actor, writer, poet, art educator, and podcaster. Winner of the first poetry slam in Brazil, the lyricist and performer is the author of the musical EP "Eu Tava Aqui O Tempo Todo, Você Que Não me Viu" (I Was Here All the Time, You Just Didn't See Me). Among his most recent literary works, "As Chafes de Yaffa" (The Chafes of Yaffa), a chronicle-style text published in "Gaza no coração. História, resistência e solidariedade na Palestina" (Gaza in the Heart: History, Resistance and Solidarity in Palestine), by Rafael Domingos, Editora Elefante, 2024, stands out. In the dramatic arts, Shabazz played an art educator at Fundação Casa in the series "De Menor" (Underage), by filmmaker Caru Alves, 2023. One of the creators and host of the Salamaleiko Podcast, the first Islamic Culture Hub in Brazil, he is the author of "Vamos pra Palmares" (Let's Go to Palmares), an iconic song considered a classic of poetry slams and poetry slams.
