
Sharif Shabazz
He began his career under the artistic pseudonym Dugueto Shabazz. He is a rapper, actor, writer, poet, art educator, and podcaster. Winner of Brazil's first poetry slam, the lyricist and performer is the author of the musical EP "Eu Tava Aqui O Tempo Todo, Você Que Não me Viu" (I Was Here All the Time, You Who Didn't See Me). Among his most recent literary works is "As Chafes de Yaffa," a chronicle published in "Gaza no coração. História, resistência e solidário na Palestina" (Gaza in the Heart. History, Resistance, and Solidarity in Palestine), by Rafael Domingos, published by Editora Elefante, 2024. In the dramatic arts, Shabazz played an art educator at Fundação Casa in the series "De Menor" (De Menor), by filmmaker Caru Alves, 2023. One of the creators and host of the Salamaleiko Podcast, Brazil's first Islamic Culture Hub, he is the author of "Vamos pra Palmares," an iconic lyric considered a classic of poetry slams and poetry readings.
