The Halal Technical-Scientific Congress (CTec Halal)


The first event of its kind held in Latin America took place on October 23 and 24, 2023, at the WTC Events Center in São Paulo. The congress was organized by the International Halal Academy, a private institute for training, qualification, and continuing education specializing in the Halal segment.


The goal of CTec Halal was to share knowledge and experiences about the Halal market with students, academics, professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the subject. The Congress was supported by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, FAMBRAS Halal, Laila Travel, Pão & Arte, and Sadi Center.

The Programming


Day 23 - On the first day of the Congress, the highlight was the presentation of 10 technical and scientific papers on Halal. They were previously selected by the event's scientific committee and covered varied topics such as Muslim consumer confidence, the use of artificial intelligence to ensure compliance with Halal precepts in the food industry, innovation case studies, and studies on cultivated meats, among many others.


Day 24 - On the second day, the "Halal Tourism Training Course" took place, during which participants learned about practices, ethics, and how to serve Muslim travelers. This course was held in partnership with the São Paulo State Department of Tourism and Travel.

It was also the day to welcome the event's keynote speaker, Professor Dr. Luciana Florência de Almeida, who spoke on the topic "The importance of studies and research for understanding markets and consumers." Dr. Luciana has a vast curriculum and professional experience. She is the leader of the Agrifood & Franchising Research Group, a research partner at PENSA-USP (Center for Agribusiness Studies), a partner at Stracta Consultoria Estratégia, and a professor in the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs at ESPM.
