ESG Agenda: Recycling and the Environment
As part of the FAMBRAS Group’s ESG initiatives, the International Halal Academy (IHA) supported activities for World Recycling Day (May 17) and World Environment Day (June 5).
In celebration of World Recycling Day, the Group reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and the circular economy by giving materials used at the Global Halal Business Forum and CTec Halal 2025 a new purpose. In partnership with Grupo R1 and the NGO Grupo Primavera, stage design and visual communications materials were reused and transformed into handcrafted items, promoting social inclusion and income generation. Employees received cell phone holders made from coconut fiber, while students at Creche Cruz de Malta were gifted reusable bottles, reinforcing the importance of conscious consumption and environmental preservation.
On World Environment Day, Grupo FAMBRAS also held a series of initiatives to raise environmental awareness, including distributing sunflower seedlings to employees, installing a cigarette-butt bin at the Sociedade Beneficente Muçulmana (Sobem), and handing out reusable water bottles to students at Colégio 24 de Março. The group also planted fruit trees at Creche Cruz de Malta. These initiatives reinforced the institution’s commitment to sustainability, environmental education, and the well-being of future generations.
