About the Congress
The third Halal Technical and Scientific Congress (CTec Halal), an initiative of the International Halal Academy—the first private institute in Latin America dedicated to education, training, qualification and ongoing professional development specializing in the Halal sector—will take place in São Paulo on October 25 and 26, 2027.
CTec Halal aims to promote the sharing of knowledge and experience, bringing together students, researchers, faculty, professionals, and experts interested in discussing relevant and current topics related to the Halal ecosystem. The event is an important opportunity to strengthen ties between academia, industry, and society, fostering technical and scientific development in various fields related to the sector.
The program will include presentations of technical and scientific papers, short courses, conferences, panels and talks by experts, creating an environment for sharing experiences and building knowledge collaboratively.
Submissions of technical and scientific papers are now open. Selected papers may be presented at the Congress and published in the event proceedings, which will also be made available online by the International Halal Academy.

RULES FOR THE III HALAL TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS - 2027
1. PREAMBLE
These rules govern the terms for holding the Halal Technical-Scientific Congress –
CTecHalal, an event organized by the International Halal Academy, which will be held as one of the activities of the Global Halal Brasil – Business Forum. Its goal is to showcase technical and scientific work across the various fields of interest in the Halal sector, as well as the experience gained by academics and professionals in the domestic and international markets. The Congress is held with the institutional support of FAMBRAS HALAL Certificações and CCAB – Câmara de Comércio Árabe-brasileira.
2. STRUCTURE OF CtecHalal
The structure of CtecHalal consists of a Scientific Organizing Committee, appointed by the Director General of the International Halal Academy, comprising the Secretary General of the International Halal Academy and specialists in various fields of interest. It will be coordinated by the Secretary General of the International Halal Academy. The committee's working sessions will follow a schedule and work plan approved by the Director General. The activities of CtecHalal will take place during the Global Halal Brasil – Business Forum and will include lectures, panel discussions, short courses, and presentations of technical and scientific papers addressing topics related to Halal fields of interest and professional experience. The event's publicity and program must be approved by the Scientific Organizing Committee, and its budget by the Director General. The purpose of CtecHalal is to solicit technical and scientific papers for presentation at the Congress, which takes place alongside the Global Halal Brasil – Business Forum in Brazil. The papers will be published in the Congress Proceedings. This in-person event promotes the exchange of knowledge and technologies across various Halal sectors and welcomes diverse audiences with an interest in the subject.
3. PAPER SUBMISSION
3.1. Submitted papers must address the subject areas covered by the following Halal fields of interest:

· Fashion and Apparel;
· Islamic Finance;
· Logistics - Storage and distribution;

· Standards, Accreditation, Certification and Auditing;
· Environment and Sanitation;
· Quality Control and Management;
· Testing Laboratories;
· Religious Principles;
· Media and Leisure.
3.2. All authors of submitted papers must be identified by their title, institution or organization, city, state and country, and contact email, in accordance with the editable template available on the International Halal Academy homepage (www.academiahalal.com.br). The paper must be submitted to CtecHalal by the first author listed. Of the paper’s authors, only this author will be contacted by the congress organizers.
3.2.1. Each paper may have a maximum of 10 (ten) authors.
3.2.2. Authors may be students or instructors in technical, undergraduate, or postgraduate programs at national or international educational institutions, or industry professionals.
3.3. All authors of the paper must be registered and have their registration for CTecHalal.
3.4. Papers must be submitted to CtecHalal by the deadline specified in these regulations. The first author may submit a maximum of 3 (three) technical and/or scientific papers. Papers must be written in Portuguese and English and must not exceed 6 (six) A4 pages.
3.5. Papers must be submitted in two formats: in pdf and in .doc, unlocked and editable, with a title in uppercase letters of no more than 20 words, including one-, two-, three- and polysyllabic words.
3.6. Submission of papers for selection for presentation at CtecHalal and publication in the congress proceedings constitutes the authors’ irrevocable acceptance of these rules. The International Halal Academy is not responsible for the improper designation of a co-author.
4. ACCEPTANCE OF PAPERS
4.1. Only papers that fully comply with these rules will be accepted for selection. Literature reviews will not be accepted. Submitted papers should preferably include results already achieved. Papers still in progress and/or with results yet to be obtained may also be accepted.
4.2. Submitted papers will be evaluated for acceptance by the Organizing Scientific Committee, which will assess the originality of the approach and compliance with the writing and formatting requirements set out in these guidelines.
4.3. The rules for writing and formatting the text must be followed strictly, particularly with regard to scientific notation and applicable technical standards. If there are serious and uncorrectable failures to comply with the writing and formatting rules, the paper will not be accepted for evaluation.
The originality of the approach will be verified through an appropriate literature search, using specialized software to check submitted documents for unauthorized copying from other published works. A threshold of 3% is permitted for possible instances of copied material identified by specialized literature-search software in a paper submitted for evaluation by CtecHalal.
4.5. For the purposes of assessing originality, a document is considered to contain improper copying if it adapts or reproduces excerpts from other published documents without complying with the rules for citing bibliographic references. If excerpts from other published documents are copied without proper bibliographic citations, the paper will not be accepted for review or selection for presentation at CtecHalal and publication in the conference proceedings.
4.6. The NOT ACCEPTED decision will be duly justified and communicated to the first author by email. No appeals against the decision may be made by the paper’s authors to the Scientific Organizing Committee.
5. PAPER SELECTION
5.1. ACCEPTED papers will be selected based on their review scores; the highest-ranked papers will be selected for oral presentation during CTecHalal.
5.2. The Organizing Scientific Committee’s reviews of the submitted papers will be either NOT ACCEPTED or ACCEPTED.
5.2.1. Among other criteria, reviewers will assess: whether the paper’s subject is relevant to the topic of its category; the clarity of the presentation; the context provided for the problem; consistency among the objectives; the study’s rationale and social relevance; the scientific rigor of the hypotheses presented; whether the methodology is appropriate and consistent with the study’s aims and described in sufficient detail to be replicated; whether the results are clearly described and consistent with the data collected and the methodology provided; whether charts and tables help present the topic; whether results are presented redundantly; and whether the discussion is coherent and up to date, and engages with the stated objectives and findings.
5.3. Papers requiring revisions will be sent to the first author. Once revised, papers must be resubmitted to the Organizing Scientific Committee by the first author within 5 (five) calendar days, starting from the day after the revision notice. Revised papers resubmitted after the deadline will be REJECTED.
5.4. Changes to paper titles will only be made if required by the Organizing Scientific Committee. Requests to change titles or authors will not be accepted before the papers have been reviewed and selected.
5.5. The REJECTED decision will be duly justified and communicated to the author by email. No appeal may be made against the decision.
6. PRESENTATION OF PAPERS BY PHYSICAL OR DIGITAL POSTER
6.1. All approved papers will be presented at CtecHalal as a physical or digital poster, at the discretion of the Congress Organizing Committee.
6.2. The lead author of a paper approved for poster presentation must submit the editable electronic poster file in .ppt or .pptx format, using the template adopted by the CtecHalal Organizing Committee and available on the International Halal Academy homepage, within 5 (five) calendar days starting from the day after notification. Sponsor or event supporter logos may not be removed from the CtecHalal poster template.
6.3. The banner presentation file to be submitted to CtecHalal must be named using the paper title in uppercase letters. No subsequent changes are permitted. The selected paper must be presented by its author, who must have registered for the Global Halal Brasil – Business Fórum. Presentation by anyone other than an author of the selected paper is not permitted.
6.4. The location, date, and time for the poster presentation will be included in the CtecHalal schedule, which will be announced in advance by the event’s Organizing Committee. At the committee’s discretion, the presentation may be delivered live online or as a recording.
6.5. Banners will be on display from the first day of the Global Halal Brasil – Business Forum, at the designated presentation areas, before the scheduled opening time, and may not be removed before the close of CtecHalal; for virtual events, display arrangements will be determined by the event organizers.
6.6. The poster presenter must remain at the presentation venue for the entire scheduled presentation period, awaiting the poster evaluation committee. At the end of the presentation, the author who presented the poster must sign the attendance sheet—in person or virtually. At the evaluation committee’s discretion, the presenter may then be excused from the presentation session but must remain at the event venue until CtecHalal has ended. Signing the attendance sheet is mandatory to receive the poster presentation certificate.
6.7 The Event Organizing Committee and the International Halal Academy will not cover any travel or accommodation expenses for authors of papers selected to be presented as posters at CTecHalal.
6.8. Authors of papers displayed as posters at in-person events may take them down only after the close of CtecHalal. The International Halal Academy and the congress organizers will not ship posters to authors. Posters not collected at the end of the congress will be discarded or donated to interested organizations.
6.9. Authors presenting their work as a poster must submit their posters using the template available on the International Halal Academy website and meeting the following specifications: maximum usable area of 1.08 m²; maximum dimensions of 0.9 m wide by 1.20 m high; use a sans-serif font (Arial, Calibri, etc.) in a size that can be read from a distance of at least 2.0 m (minimum 28 pt) to make it easy for attendees to read; include the title, authors, affiliated institutions, mailing address and email, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion; include photographs, graphs, tables and figures to illustrate the work and conclusions, and include the logos of supporting organizations and sponsors, where applicable.
6.10. Banner presentations will be evaluated by two members of the Organizing Scientific Committee and two experts invited by the congress organizers.
7. ORAL PRESENTATION OF PAPERS
7.1. The selected paper classified for oral presentation at the CTecHalal must be presented by its first author, provided they can show proof of registration for the Global Halal Brasil – Business Forum. Presentations by third parties who are not authors of the selected paper are not permitted.
7.2. The International Halal Academy will not cover travel or accommodation expenses for authors of papers selected for oral presentation at the CTecHalal.
7.3. Authors whose papers are selected for oral presentation must submit their electronic files in PowerPoint (.pps file), no larger than 2 MB, to ctechalal@academiahalal.com.br, within 5 calendar days of the announcement of the selected papers. Presentations will be 10 minutes long: 7 minutes to present the topic and 3 minutes for discussion.
7.4. Oral presentations will be held in virtual or in-person rooms on the dates and at the times set by the CTecHalal Organizing Scientific Committee.
7.5. Oral presentations may be replaced by roundtable discussions at the discretion of the CTecHalal Scientific Organizing Committee. The roundtable will comprise the authors of the paper and members selected by the Scientific Organizing Committee.
8. CLASSIFICATION OF PAPERS FOR ORAL PRESENTATION
8.1. Of the papers accepted for presentation at CTecHalal, up to 12 (twelve) will be selected for oral presentation.
8.2. Papers will be ranked by experts appointed by the Organizing Scientific Committee of CTecHalal, which will forward the ranked papers to the Scientific Evaluation Committee of CTecHalal.
8.2.1. The Coordinator of the CTecHalal Organizing Scientific Committee shall submit the list of selected papers, indicating the authors who will present them, to the CTecHalal Scientific Evaluation Committee for consideration.
8.3. Papers selected for oral presentation at CTecHalal will only be announced on the International Halal Academy website and the event’s social media channels.
9. PUBLICATION OF PAPERS
9.1. Responsibility for the content of published papers rests exclusively with their author(s).
9.2. Submitting a paper for evaluation and selection at CTecHalal also constitutes permission to use the image and to publish the paper in the CTecHalal proceedings and in technical journals deemed appropriate.
10. PAPER FORMATTING FOR PUBLICATION IN THE CTecHalal PROCEEDINGS
10.1. Text formatting
a) The text must be in Word for Windows format, no more than 5 pages long, written in ARIAL, 12 pt. It must be single-spaced, justified and have 1.25 cm paragraph indentation.
b) The following margins are mandatory for A4-size pages: 2.5 cm at the top, bottom, left, and right.
c) The title must be written entirely in uppercase, centered, 12 pt, and bold.
d) Authors must be identified in uppercase letters, in ARIAL font, size 10 pt. In addition to their full name, they must provide their profession, institution, city, state, address, and correspondence email, also in ARIAL font, size 10 pt.
e) Scientific papers must include a title of no more than 20 words; an abstract of no more than 15 lines; 3–5 keywords, which must not appear in the title; the title in English; an abstract; keywords; an introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.
f) Papers and technical reports may also follow this format: Context or Introduction, Product/Service or Development, Conclusions and References (optional).
g) The introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion and conclusion may be presented as separate or combined technical report sections. Acknowledgments are optional. Section headings must be uppercase and bold, in 11 pt.
h) Table and figure titles must appear above them, in ARIAL font, 12 pt.
i) Bibliographical references must follow the examples.
10.2. In-text citations
a) When a citation has only one author: Zonta (2010) or (Zonta, 2010).
b) For citations with two authors: Mielniczuk & Tornquist (2010) or (Mielniczuk & Tornquist, 2010).
c) For citations with more than two authors: Pezzopane et al. (2010) or (Pezzopane et al., 2010).
d) When a paper is authored by an institution/company, cite it using its acronym in uppercase letters. Examples: EMBRAPA (2010) or (EMBRAPA, 2010).
10.3. References
References cited in the text must be listed in alphabetical order by the first author’s last name, in ascending chronological order, and include the names of all authors. Formatting examples are provided below:

11. ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES
11.1. Certificate of participation in the Halal Technical-Scientific Congress – CtecHalal.
Certificates will be issued online to all participants at the CTecHalal.
11.2. Letter of Acceptance for a paper selected for presentation at the CTecHalal.
Will be issued online to authors whose papers have been accepted for presentation at CTecHalal.
11.3. Certificate of Oral Presentation.
It will be issued online to authors whose papers have been selected for oral presentation at CTecHalal. At the end of the oral presentation session (for in-person events), the author who presented the paper will receive a printed certificate.
11.4. Certificate of presentation of a paper as a poster at CtecHalal.
Will be issued online to the author who presented the poster.
11.5. Speaker or panelist certificate from CtecHalal.
A printed certificate will be issued (for in-person events) and given to the speaker at the end of the talk or short course, indicating the topic presented.
11.6. Certificate of participation in a short course.
Issued online to short-course participants, stating the course topic and number of hours completed.
11.7. Certificate of moderator of a CTecHalal activity.
Issued to the moderator at the end of the CtecHalal activity, indicating the activity’s topic.
11.8. Certificates issued online will be available to interested parties starting
within 5 calendar days of the CtecHalal closing date. Certificates issued online will be available to recipients in the CtecHalal registration systems for 90 (ninety) days from the closing date of the CtecHalal.
12. GENERAL PROVISIONS
12.1. Papers must be submitted exclusively through the submission system by the deadline specified in the RULES, which will be published on the International Halal Academy homepage. Papers may not be submitted through the CtecHalal paper submission system after the deadline.
12.2. The information entered into the CtecHalal registration systems is the sole responsibility of the first author and cannot be changed later, especially the paper title, which will be used to generate certificates.
12.3. The International Halal Academy and the congress organizers are not responsible for registrations/enrollments not completed by any interested authors and not officially recorded in the registration system.

1. SCOPE
1.1 - Evaluate and select technical and scientific papers that meet the requirements of these REGULATIONS for presentation at the III Halal Technical-Scientific Congress - CTecHalal, to be held as part of the GLOBAL HALAL BRASIL – Business Forum, on October 25 and 26, 2027.
2. RATIONALE
2.1 - The CTecHalal’s primary aim is to promote technical and scientific work developed by professionals, faculty and students at a wide range of national and international institutions and organizations. These works are published in the Congress proceedings and made available electronically on the International Halal Academy homepage. The CTecHalal program is designed to include sessions featuring technical and scientific presentations, short courses, conferences, panels and talks by experts. These sessions address important and timely topics and provide an important opportunity for researchers, businesses, faculty, students and professionals to exchange experiences.
3. SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
3.1 - Papers and posters must be submitted exclusively through the International Halal Academy’s registration/tracking page; by email: ctechalal@academiahalal.com.br. Papers and/or posters sent to any email address other than that of the International Halal Academy will not be accepted, nor will printed papers and/or posters sent by mail or courier.
3.2 - Submission deadline: 11:59 p.m. on July 31, 2027.
3.3 - The STANDARDS and these REGULATIONS for submitting technical and scientific papers will be available on the International Halal Academy homepage (www.academyhalal.com) from the date these REGULATIONS are published.
4. SELECTION CRITERIA
4.1 Submitted papers must address topics within the areas covered by the Halal sector, namely:
Technical papers on Professional Experience, Education, Workplace Safety, Sustainability and ESG Practices may also be submitted for consideration for presentation at the CTecHalal and publication in the Congress Proceedings.
4.2 Submitted papers will be evaluated and selected by a Scientific Evaluation Committee composed of specialists and professionals appointed by the Director General of the International Halal Academy. The Committee will be coordinated by the Secretary General of the International Halal Academy, who will also serve on the Committee. Among other criteria, the Committee will consider the relevance to the modality’s theme, the originality of the approach, and the clarity of the presentation.
4.3 The originality of the approach will be assessed through appropriate literature searches, with the aid of specialized software to check submitted documents for improper copying from other published works. A limit of 5% is permitted for indications, based on specialized literature-search software, of possible copying from published works in the paper submitted for evaluation by CTecHalal.
4.4 For the purposes of determining whether an approach is original, a document is considered to contain improper copying when it adapts or reproduces passages from other published documents without complying with the rules for citing bibliographic references. If passages from other published documents are copied without proper bibliographic citations, the paper will not be accepted for evaluation or selection for presentation at CTecHalal or publication in the conference proceedings.
5. RESULTS OF THE PAPER REVIEW
5.1 The papers selected for presentation at CTecHalal will be announced on the International Halal Academy registration/tracking webpage (www.academiahalal.com.br) by September 31, 2027.
5.2 At the discretion of the Organizing Committee, awards may be given to authors whose papers are selected for oral presentation at CtecHalal.
6. PRESENTATION OF PAPERS
6.1 All selected papers will be presented at CTecHalal as posters (subject to confirmation by the Organizing Committee) and/or as oral presentations.
6.2 The selected paper’s banner presentation at the CTecHalal will be delivered virtually or in person by the paper’s author(s) and will be available on the International Halal Academy homepage (www.academiahalal.com.br).
6.3 The International Halal Academy and the event organizers will not cover any travel, accommodation, or meal expenses for authors whose papers are selected for oral or poster presentation at CTecHalal.
6.4 Of the selected papers, up to 12 (twelve) will be chosen for oral presentation at CTecHalal. The oral presentation of the selected paper at CTecHalal must be delivered by the first author, provided they can confirm registration for the CTecHalal event.
6.5 The oral presentation will take place in virtual or in-person sessions on the dates and at the times determined by the CTecHalal Organizing Scientific Committee.
6.6 Oral presentations of papers may be replaced by a roundtable discussion at the discretion of the CTecHalal Organizing Scientific Committee. The roundtable will comprise the paper authors and members selected by the Organizing Scientific Committee.
7. PUBLICATION OF PAPERS
7.1. Publication of papers in the CTecHalal proceedings is limited to original work, or work deemed relevant by the Organizing Scientific Committee in its respective categories.
7.2 The author(s) bear sole responsibility for the content of published papers.
7.3 Submitting a paper for review and selection at CTecHalal constitutes permission to use the image, permission to publish the paper in the proceedings of CTecHalal, and permission for INTERNATIONAL HALAL ACADEMY to redistribute the paper and its metadata to Internet indexing and reference services. Publication of the paper in technical journals must be authorized by the author(s).
8. CLARIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
8.1 Further clarifications and information about the content of these REGULATIONS may be obtained by email at ctechalal@academiahalal.com.br.
9. CANCELLATION OR REVOCATION OF THE REGULATIONS
9.1 At any time, these REGULATIONS may be revoked or annulled, in whole or in part, at the discretion of the International Halal Academy, without giving rise to any right to compensation or claims of any kind.
10. RESERVATION CLAUSE
10.1 The Board and Secretariat General of International Halal Academy reserve the right to decide on any matters not covered by these Regulations or any unforeseen circumstances.
